Twice a year, PLATINEA holds a workshop with the platform's partners and invited actors for joint learning and forward-looking discussion. The second workshop of the year was held on November 7th. This time on the theme of antibiotics and preparedness.
The morning session opened with a general assembly where the state-owned pharmaceutical company Apotek Produktion & Laboratorier AB (APL) was elected as a new partner in the platform. We hereby warmly welcome APL to PLATINEA. APL's CEO Erik Haeffler spoke about their public policy assignment and investments in Sweden´s supply of antibiotics.
Moa Grahm at the National Board of Health and Welfare then gave an overview of the national work underway to strengthen the health and medical care supply preparedness, including ongoing government assignments including ongoing government assignments on stockpiling and manufacturing readiness of critical products for Sweden.
In addition, we got an insight into how the EU's Health and Emergency Preparedness Agency (HERA) works with antibiotics from Enrico Baraldi at Uppsala University.
The afternoon featured presentations from the work packages and discussions about ongoing work and how PLATINEA can contribute to the antibiotic preparedness. The discussions focused on for example how PLATINEA can contribute to increased societal and medical resilience, how research and policy can be linked more closely to practical preparedness work, and how our collaboration model can be developed to include preparedness as a target area.
PLATINEA's Management group thanks all participants for the contribution to a fruitful workshop!
At our next workshop this spring, PLATINEA will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. We will gather in Uppsala, where it all began. The focus will be on our success factors as we mobilize for the next 10 years!
