Research, development, and innovation is an important part for Region Västerbotten to develop the healthcare in the region. Region Västerbotten has established work on the area of antibiotic use and has the lowest consumption of antibiotics in primary care in the country. The region is investing in using existing health data to enhance the use of antibiotics within inpatient care. The region is developing innovative IT-solutions to be able to automatically measure and give feed-back regarding the use of antibiotics.

Skåne University Hospital is the third largest hospital in Sweden and operates in both Malmö and Lund. At Skåne University Hospital, research is closely linked to patient-related clinical activities and is conducted in collaboration with Lund University.

The Swedish association of Pharmaceutical Distributors (LDF) is the Swedish branch organization for distributors of pharmaceuticals and other healthcare products. LDF works as a referral instance for the industry about questions regarding the medical distribution market and has as end goal to develop and entertain sound business principles.
