PLATINEA Hosts Workshop - with Focus on The Future
Twice a year, PLATINEA organizes a workshop with platform partners and invited stakeholders for shared learning, dialogue, and forward-looking discussions.

On May 15th, the first workshop of the year was held, focusing on future efforts needed in the areas of antibiotic accessibility and responsible/optimized use.
Thomas Tängdén opened the event with a presentation on PLATINEA’s journey since its creation nearly ten years ago, highlighting current challenges and knowledge gaps related to antibiotic access and responsible use.
The morning session was forward-looking, featuring presentations and a panel discussion with Veronica Arthurson from the Swedish Medical Products Agency, Johan Kaarme from the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, Malin Eklund from Vinnova – Sweden’s Innovation Agency, and Ulrica Dohnhammar from the Swedish Research Council.
A range of critical topics and perspectives were discussed, including the importance of closer Nordic collaboration and the potential for a joint Nordic antibiotic market. Discussions also addressed the need for sustainable business models and greater inclusion of health economics considerations. Emphasis was placed on the value of cross-sectoral collaboration and international partnerships, the necessity of anchoring engagement within operational frameworks, breaking down internal silos, and acting bravely within our respective mandates. The issue of antibiotic accessibility was also framed as a vital component in a time where preparedness questions is high on the agenda.

The afternoon featured presentations from the various work packages, combining insights and recent progress with future outlooks and concrete ideas in the field. The day concluded with a joint discussion on how PLATINEA should continue to evolve moving forward.
