Two new scientific articles about antibiotic availability and resistance published!

PLATINEA's project leader Thomas Tängdén is a co-author in two newly published scientific articles about antibiotic availability and resistance.

Both articles were published in the end of September in the scientific journal Clinical Microbiology and Infection (CMI).

The first article has the title ’A systematic review of antibiotic shortages and the strategies employed for managing these shortages.’. In the article they’ve reviewed 74 articles regarding 1). patterns and causes of antibiotic shortages, 2). eventual effects on the healthcare system and patient outcomes because of the shortages, 3). strategies to mitigate and manage shortage-situations.

The other article has the title ’Introducing new antibiotics for multidrug-resistant bacteria: obstacles and the way forward’. In this article the authors review knowledge gaps, guidelines and availability of new antibiotics on the market.
